The Boeing 747-400 is the best-selling variant of the iconic 747 'Queen of the Skies.' Entering service with Northwest Orient Airlines in February 1989, the -400 introduced a two-crew glass cockpit (eliminating the flight engineer), winglets that extend range by 3.5%, and increased fuel capacity in a new horizontal stabilizer tank.
