AIRCRAFT BRIEF

The TBM 850 took the TBM 700 airframe and fitted the more powerful PT6A-66D, flat rated to 700 shp for takeoff but able to deliver 850 shp in cruise, which is where the aircraft gets its name and its 320 knot cruise. Built at Tarbes from 2006, it was the fastest single-engine turboprop of its day and the direct ancestor of the TBM 900 series. Black Square's version models the airframe with analog instrumentation and period avionics rather than the glass panel of the later TBMs, with nearly 100 failure modes and a detailed pressurisation simulation.
