PHS 1 - Pre-Flight Planning8 steps
Weather Briefing (METAR / TAF)REVIEWEDNOTE: The 114 flies on vacuum-driven gyros with a standby vacuum pull handle as the only backup. Check icing and cloud tops before launching IFR. |
NOTAMsREVIEWED |
Fuel RequiredCALCULATEDNOTE: 70 US gal total, 68 usable (409 lbs). Typical cruise burn 86 PPH at 75% power, 65 PPH at 55%. |
Weight and BalanceWITHIN LIMITSCAUTION: Max ramp, takeoff and landing weight are all 3,140 lbs. Useful load is 1,255 lbs normally aspirated, 1,180 lbs turbonormalized. |
Takeoff and Landing DistanceCALCULATEDNOTE: Book figures at sea level: takeoff 2,150 ft over 50 ft (1,390 ft ground roll); landing 1,200 ft over 50 ft (710 ft ground roll). |
Cruise Altitude and PowerPLANNEDNOTE: Service ceiling 17,400 ft normally aspirated, 25,000 ft turbonormalized. The turbo's critical altitude is 18,000 ft. |
Radio Stack ConfigurationSELECTEDNOTE: Fifteen hot-swappable radio configurations, from a no-GPS Foster RNAV511 through KLN-90B, GNS 530/430 and GTN 750/650. |
