Cessna 208B Grand Caravan (Black Square)MSFS 2024 · Startup Checklist · 259 steps · 18 phases
PHS 1 - Pre-Flight Planning8 steps
Weather Briefing (METAR / TAF)REVIEWEDNOTE: The Caravan works low and slow in weather. Check icing carefully - it is a known icing airframe but performance suffers. |
NOTAMsREVIEWED |
Fuel RequiredCALCULATEDNOTE: 332 US gal usable across the two wing tanks. Each gauge reads to 1,100 lbs / 160 gal per side. Fuel flow redline is 500 lb/hr. |
Weight and BalanceWITHIN LIMITSCAUTION: MTOW 8,750 lbs for the 208B. The cargo pod changes both the empty weight and the drag. |
Takeoff and Landing DistanceCALCULATEDNOTE: Density altitude matters. A hot, high, heavy Caravan uses a lot of runway. |
Load PlanSETNOTE: Cargo, pod contents and passenger seating all move the CG. Set the payload on the tablet. |
Panel ConfigurationSELECTED ON THE TABLETNOTE: Caravan Professional ships in analog and glass variants, with wheeled and amphibian airframes and several radio fits. |
Failure SettingsREVIEWEDNOTE: Custom turbine simulation includes FOD damage and gyroscopic effects.

Fuel Quantity and CapsCHECK BOTH WINGS |
Fuel Sumps and ReservoirDRAINED - CHECK FOR WATERCAUTION: The Caravan has multiple drain points including the reservoir and filter. Drain all of them. |
Engine OilCHECK QUANTITY |
Engine InletCLEAR OF FODWARNING: FOD damage is modelled. Anything in the inlet will go through the compressor. |
