PHS 1 - Pre-Flight Planning8 steps
Weather Briefing (METAR / TAF / SIGMET)REVIEWEDNOTE: The manual flies its climb profile to a service ceiling of 43,000 ft. Check winds aloft, icing and destination alternates. |
NOTAMsREVIEWED |
Flight PlanPREPAREDNOTE: The manual builds the route either from the MSFS world map or from SimBrief, then enters it in the G3000. |
Fuel PlanningBLOCK FUEL CALCULATED |
Weight and BalancePLANNEDNOTE: Entered on the Load Manager and Initialization pages once power is on. Load Manager values overwrite the sim weight and balance. |
Takeoff PerformanceV1, VR, V2 AND VFTO PLANNEDNOTE: V1 is the speed beyond which takeoff should no longer be aborted. V2 is the speed at which the aircraft may safely climb with one engine inoperative. Vfto is the final takeoff speed. |
SID / STAR / Approach ReviewBRIEFED |
Single-Pilot ConsiderationsBRIEFEDNOTE: The manual notes single-pilot IFR can be task saturating and recommends leaning on the G3000 checklist system.

Right Engine START ButtonPRESS - CHECK GREENNOTE: Start with the right engine (number 2). |
Right Throttle LeverCUT OFF TO IDLE DETENTCAUTION: Click below the throttle lever to move it out of CUT OFF. While the throttle is in CUT OFF, external hardware, keyboard and joystick cannot move the throttles. |
EISMONITOR DURING STARTNOTE: The FADEC does the work and will keep the start parameters within limits. Expect STARTER then IGN, with throttle mode START in cyan. |
Right EngineSTABILISEDNOTE: An engine takes about 20 seconds to start, then idles at around 23 percent N1 and 52 percent N2. |
Left EngineREPEAT THE SEQUENCE |
GeneratorsCONFIRM ONLINENOTE: Once the engines are running the generators come on automatically, which disconnects the simulated GPU. |
Flight ControlsCHECK VISUALLYWARNING: Do not use the MSFS Ctrl+E shortcut while the engines are at idle. It conflicts with the start logic and the engines will flicker between starting and cutting off.
PHS 8 - Before Taxi9 steps
Transponder CodeENTER AND CONFIRM AUTO MODE |
Flight IDCHECK ON THE PFDNOTE: Shown above the altitude tape. |
Navigation SourceFMSNOTE: Set with the softkey below the display. |

Flight InstrumentsCHECKNOTE: Confirm the HSI heading moves and the slip indicator responds in turns. |
Exterior LightsNORMNOTE: Any light left in NORM is managed automatically by the HJet and shows magenta on the synoptic status page. Lights set to ON or OFF are manual and show cyan.
PHS 10 - Before Takeoff10 steps
FlapsSET TO / APPR |
TrimsSET - TRIANGLES GREENWARNING: Takeoff is very sensitive to trim. Trimming the elevator into the green band is a prerequisite to a successful takeoff. The band moves with the flap setting. |

RotateAT VRNOTE: Rotate slowly to meet the flight director at 11 degrees pitch over 3 to 4 seconds. Tutorial-flight value from the manual's KGSO to KILM demonstration, not a published limit. Compute your own from the Speed Bugs page. The tutorial rotates at 113 kts and this holds around 150 kts. |
Landing GearUPNOTE: Tap the brakes, then retract after a positive rate of climb. |
Yaw DamperVERIFY ENGAGEDNOTE: Press YD on the GFC. |
FlapsUP WHEN CLEAR OF OBSTACLESNOTE: The tutorial retracts at no less than 130 KIAS. Confirm gear and flaps retracted on the EIS. |
Thrust LeversMCT DETENTNOTE: Retard past 2,500 ft MSL (1,500 ft AGL), then lower the pitch to accelerate toward the climb speed. |
AutothrottleAS DESIREDNOTE: E2 Mode only. Arming the AT on the GFC after setting takeoff thrust activates it and the magenta FMS speeds are then respected, including the MCT reduction.
PHS 12 - After Takeoff / Climb10 steps

Climb Speed210 KIAS UNTIL M0.57NOTE: Monitor TAS at the bottom of the speed tape. The display flips to Mach automatically as Mach increases. The HJet can hold this profile to its 43,000 ft service ceiling. |
Mach ModeVERIFY AT M0.57NOTE: The changeover should be automatic. Manually, push the SPD knob once so the bug changes to Mach. The IAS/Mach transition usually happens around 31,000 ft.
PHS 13 - Cruise6 steps
Cruise AltitudeLEVEL OFF |
Cruise SpeedPER THE FMS SCHEDULENOTE: With E2 Mode and the SPD mode in FMS, the speed sets automatically to 270 kts / M0.720 and holds it until the next phase of flight. |
True AirspeedMONITORNOTE: At 31,000 ft, MCT achieves 420 kts TAS, which is where the HA420 gets its name. Ground speed depends on winds aloft. |
