AIRCRAFT BRIEF

The Yakovlev Yak-52 is a Soviet primary trainer aircraft that first flew in 1976, designed as a successor to the Yak-50 competition aerobat and built to train pilots for the Soviet DOSAAF organization. Romanian manufacturer Aerostar produced the aircraft as the Iak-52 from 1977 to 1998 under COMECON trade agreements, with over 1,800 examples built. Stressed to +7/-5 G and powered by the nine-cylinder Vedeneyev M14P radial engine, the Yak-52 remains popular worldwide for aerobatic training and sport flying.
