Jet-A and Jet-A1 are the standard turbine fuels used by airliners and business jets worldwide, weighing approximately 6.71 lb per US gallon (0.804 kg/L) at 15C. Avgas 100LL is the primary piston GA fuel at 6.01 lb per US gallon (0.721 kg/L). Diesel/AVTUR is used in some turboprop trainers at 6.94 lb per US gallon (0.832 kg/L).

Which fuel type should I use for MSFS 2024?: Select Jet-A for airliners and business jets, and Avgas 100LL for piston GA aircraft such as the Cessna 172. The simulator uses the same density values as real-world aircraft.
Why does density matter for fuel planning?: Aircraft fuel systems measure capacity in volume (gallons or litres), but weight and balance is calculated in mass (kg or lbs). The same volume of Avgas weighs less than Jet-A, so using the wrong density gives incorrect takeoff weights.
