Densities Used by This Converter
Jet A and Jet A-1 are computed at 0.804 kg/L (6.71 lb per US gallon), Avgas 100LL at 0.721 kg/L (6.01 lb per US gallon), both at 15C. Those are nominals, not constants: real fuel varies with the specification band, temperature, and - for UK/imperial gallons, which are about 20% larger than US gallons - which gallon a source actually means.

Why Fuel Weight Matters
Fuel is bought and loaded by volume but flight planning runs on mass. Takeoff performance, range, and centre of gravity all depend on fuel weight, so converting volume to mass with the right density is the first step of every load sheet.
