AIRCRAFT BRIEF
The Dassault Mirage F1 was developed in the 1960s as a private-venture successor to the Mirage III, trading the delta planform for a swept wing with full-span slats and flaps, which cut required runway length by over 50% and boosted internal fuel for roughly 40% greater combat range. The first prototype flew on 23 December 1966, and the type entered French service in 1973 as a single SNECMA Atar 9K-50-powered interceptor. The F1CE is the single-seat interceptor variant license-assembled in Spain for the Spanish Air Force, equipped with the Cyrano IV radar and DEFA 553 cannon.
