AIRCRAFT BRIEF
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is the most-produced fighter aircraft in history, with over 33,000 built, and the Bf 109 K-4 'Kurfurst' represents the ultimate development of the design. Entering service in late 1944, the K-4 combined the DB 605 DC engine with the MW 50 water-methanol injection system to produce up to 2,000 PS at emergency power, making it one of the fastest piston fighters of the war. Despite its narrow undercarriage causing many accidents, skilled pilots found it an exceptional fighting machine.
