- 4Fuel selectorSET TO FULLEST TANK
- 5Fuel pumpCHECK ON
- 6MixtureCHECK RICH
- 7Alternate airOPEN
- 8If power is not regainedPROCEED WITH POWER OFF LANDING
Engine Failure In Flight
Immediate actions · 9 steps
- 1If at low altitude: Airspeed79 KIAS MINIMUM, prepare for power off landing
- 2If altitude permits:
- 3Fuel selectorSWITCH TO FULLEST TANK
- 4Fuel pumpON
- 5MixtureRICH
- 6Alternate airOPEN
- 7Engine gaugesCHECK FOR INDICATION OF CAUSE
- 8When power is restored: Alternate airCLOSE, Fuel pump - OFF
- 9If power is not restoredTRIM FOR 79 KIAS and prepare for a power off landing
Power Off Landing
Immediate actions · 6 steps
- 1Trim for 79 KIAS
- 2Locate a suitable field and establish a spiral pattern 1,000 ft above the field at the downwind position
- 3When the field can be easily reachedSLOW TO 72 KIAS for the shortest landing
- 4Touchdowns should normally be made at the lowest possible airspeed with full flaps
- 5When committed: Landing gear leverAS REQUIRED, Flaps - AS DESIRED, Throttle - CLOSE, Mixture - IDLE CUT-OFF, Ignition - OFF, BATT MASTR - OFF, ALTR - OFF, Fuel selector - OFF
- 6Note: with the battery master OFF the landing gear cannot be retracted
