Engine Malfunction - Hover (TM 9-11)

- 3Airspeed52 KIAS nose pitot / 63 KIAS roof pitot for minimum rate of descent
- 4Airspeed92 KIAS nose pitot / 98 KIAS roof pitot for maximum glide distance
- 5Rotor RPMMAINTAIN within limits; at high gross weight apply collective to keep RPM below the upper limit

Engine Restart - During Flight (TM 9-13)

Complete Loss of Tail Rotor Thrust (TM 9-21)

- 2In flightif no safe landing area is immediately available and powered flight is possible, continue to a suitable area above minimum rate of descent airspeed
- 3Degree of roll and sideslipVARY with throttle and/or collective
- 4When landing area is reachedAUTOROTATE using an airspeed above minimum rate of descent
- 5Cautionthe flare and abrupt use of collective will rotate the nose left; DO NOT correct with throttle and DO NOT add power at this time
- 6If area suitabletouch down at a ground speed above effective translational lift, using throttle as necessary for directional control
- 7Warningbelow 30 to 40 knots the sideslip may become uncontrollable and the helicopter will begin to revolve on the vertical axis
Hydraulic Power Failure (TM 9-37)

Fire - In Flight (TM 9-32)

Engine Overspeed (TM 9-17)

- 1CollectiveINCREASE to load the rotor and maintain RPM below the maximum operating limit
- 2ThrottleREDUCE until normal operating RPM is attained, then continue with manual throttle control
- 3If throttle reduction does not reduce RPMEMER GOV OPNS
- 4Warningland even if manual throttle corrects the overspeed, since there is a chance of impending engine failure from debris generated by the initial N2 failure
Transmission Oil Hot or Low Pressure (TM 9-19)
Immediate actions · 4 steps
- 1Land as soon as possible
- 2EMER SHUTDOWN after landing
- 3Warningdo not close the throttle during this procedure; descent and landing must be made with normal engine operating RPM
- 4Noteif transmission oil pressure drops to zero PSI, a valid cross reference cannot be made with the oil temperature indicators
Main Driveshaft Failure (TM 9-25)

Mast Bumping / Low G (TM 8-45, 8-53, 9-41)

- 1Avoid abrupt flight control inputsthey cause excessive main rotor flapping which may result in mast bumping
- 2Intentional flight below +0.5 G is prohibited
- 3Avoid abrupt forward cyclic inputsthe helicopter may roll right simultaneously
- 4If bumping occurs during startup or shutdownreposition controls
- 5Intentional maneuvers beyond +/-30 degrees pitch or +/-60 degrees roll are prohibited
